Spotify is looking for a new band member to join our Global Tax Team as an Indirect Tax Manager, based in Stockholm. In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of business, finance, tech, and tax - helping shape how we navigate complex tax matters across our international markets while contributing to the projects and systems that move the business forward.

About the role
This is not a narrow specialist role. It’s a broad and high-impact role for someone who wants to combine indirect tax expertise with project leadership, business partnering, and a strong interest in how systems and technology shape the way tax operates.
As Indirect Tax Manager, you’ll take the lead on complex tax matters across Spotify’s international markets, covering VAT, GST, and equivalent taxes. You’ll work closely with teams across Tax, Finance, Legal, Business, and Tech, bringing tax into both day-to-day decisions and larger cross-functional initiatives.
A key part of the role is supporting and driving work connected to larger business initiatives, system-related projects, and other cross-functional priorities that have tax impact. You’ll play an active role in shaping how the indirect tax function works going forward. This includes driving technology, automation, and AI-related initiatives, improving internal processes and frameworks, and helping build ways of working that are scalable in a fast-moving business.
Alongside the project-facing side of the role, you’ll manage day-to-day indirect tax questions, work closely with external advisors and service providers, and stay close to legislative developments across key markets.
This is a role for someone who is comfortable operating across boundaries: between tax and technology, between business needs and regulatory requirements, and between technical depth and practical execution. You’ll be expected to turn complexity into clarity - both for the tax team and for stakeholders across the business. Above all, your work will have a real impact on how the world experiences audio.

Qualifications
You bring a strong background in indirect taxation, with at least seven years of experience gained either in-house or within a professional services environment. A combination of both is a strong plus. You have deep expertise in VAT, GST, and broader indirect tax legislation, backed by practical experience across multiple markets. At the same time, you understand that indirect tax does not operate in isolation - you’re comfortable working close to finance and accounting, and you have good general knowledge of other taxes.
You have strong project management skills and are comfortable leading cross-functional workstreams, including business changes, system-related initiatives, and M&A-related work where relevant. You know how to move work forward, involve the right stakeholders, and create momentum without relying on hierarchy. You’re highly system savvy and bring a genuine interest and knowledge in tax technology, automation, and AI. You understand that in a modern tax function, systems matter - not just as tools, but as part of how tax is assessed, implemented, and scaled across the business.
Beyond your technical profile, you’re someone people want to work with. You communicate clearly, you make complex tax matters understandable for non-tax audiences, and you bring a constructive and collaborative style that builds trust across functions. You’re able to deliver difficult messages when needed, but in a way that keeps the dialogue open and productive.
You’re structured, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. You’re motivated by taking responsibility and helping the team and company succeed. You bring curiosity, integrity, and a genuine drive toward impact and improvement. Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
